DIY cement pots for plants

Colin and I love to potter around in the garden and really enjoy making things for the garden. Our latest round of cast concrete plant pots came about because I thought it would be fine to leave our original set outside over a Newfoundland winter.... I couldn't have been more misguided! True, last winter was an especially brutal one, but we arrived this past summer (end of June) to find--to my utter dismay--all of them completely disintegrated into a pile of pulverised concrete dust! Colin was so kind about it and declared we'd build the next lot bigger and better--and we DID! I'm so pleased with how they turned out!

The pots aren't all that large--can't find plastic tubs big enough to make what I have in mind--but they do a lovely job of bringing plants to spaces where they otherwise wouldn't be.

Oh, and Colin built me the world's best bird feeder as well! (Built to hurricane specifications, this is one bird feeder that won't blow away over winter!). Now we've just got to get the birds to actually use it.....
