Tools and Resources of Oaxacan Weaving

A visit to an artisan's cooperative between Tule and Mitla offered a good opportunity to view the tools used to produce some of Mexico's finest wool-based weaving. This cooperative used all natural dyes and did their own spinning from bales of wool, using all hand and foot operated machinery constructed locally by the artisans themselves. Dyes are produced from the nopal cactus and a range of other local plants.
