Sunsets at Bottle Cove

The past couple of nights have brought quite spectacular sunsets looking out across the sea toward Quebec through the entrance to Bottle Cove. Both nights there were plenty of people taking photos from the shoreline as well as from up on Sunset Rock. This summer it seems to have become something of a 'thing' to photograph the sunsets out here, and after seeing so many people doing it we decided we might see what all the fuss was about. The sun sets behind the cliffs, so we don't actually see the sun set from our place. It requires all of a 200 metre trek around the base of the Cove. Well worth the effort.

The two 'performances' were very different and it should be obvious below where the sunset of 24 July gives way to that of 25 July. Last night's one was especially fine.

Needless to say, there was never any prospect of getting three in a row, and today was cloudy and gave way to rain late afternoon. We didn;t have proper filters for photographing the scenes, so what we have here are pix shot with a 40-150mm lens on an Olympic Pen SLR camera and a Samsung Galaxy S5 phone.
